Scholarships

The project offers a limited number of scholarships for the Urban Management programmes at UNILAG and at Wits each year. Furthermore, there will be more scholarship opportunities for postdoctoral researchers and PhD students. All information on scholarships and current calls will be published here.

Scholarships for the MUS (Urban Management) at Wits

Scholarships for studying the MUS (UM) programme at Wits cover tuition fees, travel costs, medical aid, visa fees and a monthly stipend are available for the duration of the 1-year full time degree master’s programme. The scholarships are open to prospective students from all African countries. Scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis. Currently the call for scholarships is open. Due date to apply for admission into the MUS (UM) is 31 July 2024 for non-South African nationals and 30 September for South Africans. The due date to apply for the scholarship is 30 September 2024. Scholarships for the Master's programme in Urban Management at UniLag

For studies at UniLag (2-year part-time degree master’s programme) scholarships cover tuition fees, travel costs and a monthly stipend. The scholarships are awarded for the whole duration of the 2-year-part-time programme. The scholarships are open to prospective students from Nigeria. Scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis.     PhD and Postdoc Scholarships

    The project is currently funding a cohort of eight PhD students at Wits University and UniLag. Additional opportunities for one-year scholarships for PhD students will be available for 2025. More information will be shared here in 2024. Postdoc fellowships in the project normally run for 18 to 24 months. At Wits postdoc fellwoships are full-time, at UniLag the fellwoships are part-time. All calls for postdoc fellowships will be published here.
