Taiwo Afinowi

Dr Taiwo Afinowi is a Professional Architect, Urban Planning Practitioner, and Researcher whose work bridges urban planning, digital transformation, and sustainable development in African cities. Taiwo holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Architecture and Planning and a Master’s in the Built Environment from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa. He also earned a Professional Masters Degree in Architecture and a Master of Environmental Design (with distinction) from the University of Lagos. He is a Research Fellow at the Public Policy Hub and a Research Associate at the Department of Architecture at the University of Pretoria, where his current research focuses on developing urban sustainability and inclusive data-driven digital governance frameworks for African cities. With experience in teaching, mentorship, and scholarly publishing, his work engages sustainable housing, urban renewal, and global development agendas, including the SDGs and the New Urban Agenda, while critically examining their application in local African contexts.
