Emmanuel Tolulope Busayo
Emmanuel has about a decade of experience from different affiliations in South Africa and Nigeria within the broad fields of Geography, Planning, and Environmental studies (Environmental-GeoPlanner). He obtained his PhD and Master’s degrees in the fields of Geography and Environmental Studies at the University of Fort Hare, South Africa, in 2021 and 2018, respectively. He is an alumnus of Ekiti State University, Nigeria, where he obtained his Bachelor of Science Honours in Geography and Planning Science in 2012. His research revolves primarily around the institutional strengthening of policy, program, public participation, and practice for coastal resilience, climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction, sustainable living, renewable energy, spatial planning, and environmental empathy. He has a strong affinity with fieldwork, especially ethnographic approach with an emphasis on the ’emic view’, including digital urban informatics. Emmanuel has published scientific articles and book chapters in high-impact and reputable journals within his field of interests. Emmanuel has evidence of Postgraduate supervision and mentoring, including external examination of postgraduates’ theses and dissertations. He is a consistent and revered peer reviewer for local and international journals, for example, Journal of Environmental Management (Elsevier), Climate Policy (Taylor and Francis), GeoJournal (Springer), etc. He currently serves on the South African Geographers (SSAG) Student Conference-SSAG 2023 review panel. Emmanuel has won several research and travelling grants, for example, Govan Mbeki Research and Development Centre's Conference funding award, the Elsevier Foundation and The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) grants, and the British Academy's Academic writing workshop sponsorship award.
