Zonke Bella Gavrilov

Alumni University of the Witwatersrand

Zonke Bella Gavrilov is an Urban and Regional Planning PhD candidate from the Urban lab programme between Witwatersrand University and the Technische Universität Berlin (TUB), where she is developing a conceptual lens to approach the integration of the paratransit system into the formal Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) road network within cities of the south. She is an Urban Planner with a background in Landscape Architecture and has a master’s and PG Dip degree in Development Planning from the University of Witwatersrand and has obtained Honours in Applied Science in Architecture and Bachelors of Landscape Architecture from the University of Pretoria.

Thesis: Conflicting Rationalities: Negotiating a Process of Inclusion Between the Minibus Taxi and BRT. The Case of the IRPTN in the City of Ekurhuleni (CoE).
