Taki Sithagu

Project Coordinator University of Witwatersrand

Taki Sithagu (✝ 2024) was a town planner by profession (a member of the South African Council of Planners) and has worked for national, provincial and local government. She was a lecturer at the School of Architecture and Planning (University of Witwatersrand). She taught a variety of housing and urban management-related courses in the Master of Urban Studies programme. She has also been a Project Coordinator of the Wits-TUB Urban Lab Project. Taki was a PhD candidate at the Institute of Poverty, Land and Agrarian Studies at the University of the Western Cape. The focus of her work was on the relations between local municipalities and traditional authorities in former homelands in neo-customary land practices.
