Abstract
The pursuit of sustainable built environments necessitates a focus on circular energy consumption. This study endeavors to optimize circular construction practices, particularly in informal settlements near Mekelle city. Leveraging digital twins and technological advancements, the research aims to understand energy consumption patterns and identify areas for improvement. This study will employ a comparative analysis of energy consumption and space usage patterns in selected informal settlement typologies, utilizing digital twin technology. Quantitative data analysis and qualitative evaluations will be conducted to gain insights into energy dynamics and spatial organization within these settlements. The research will reveal significant variations in energy usage across different settlement types. By comparing consumption patterns against established standards, areas for enhancing efficiency and spatial organization. Strategies to optimize energy and space utilization within informal settlements will be explored, offering actionable recommendations for improvement. The findings of this study could contribute to the discourse on sustainable urban development by providing contextual cases and actionable insights. The optimization of circular energy consumption in informal settlements near Mekelle city not only enhances environmental sustainability but also enriches the living conditions of residents in these underserved communities.
